Killing Time

Pumpkin Stem, Waynesville, NC - 2011

A local Methodist church has a big pumpkin sale each Fall. The yard around the church is filled with scores of pumpkins, and it draws almost as many people with cameras as pumpkin buyers. Some friends wanted me to do some portraits of their two daughters at the "pumpkin patch" so we met there late one afternoon.

I arrived early to look the location over and check out my equipment. While waiting for my friends to arrive, I killed some time making some pumpkin photos for myself. The colors, shapes, and textures provided many possibilities as shown in this close-up of a stem on one of the larger pumpkins.
