Our church ordained two new deacons a few weeks ago. I made this photograph of them as the congregation prayed for them during the ordination service.I never use flash during ceremonies like this because I believe it is a distraction and detracts from the solemnity of what's taking place. This usually forces me to shoot at a high ISO (800 in this case), and deal with the inadequacies of the quality of the ambient lighting later.
The straight, sharp color original had too much of a "snap shot" look to it. I decided to convert to a toned B&W with a little soft focus to better convey the mood of the service. I also added some vignetting around the edges of the photo. (Click on photo to enlarge.)

A great capture that tells a story.
The converting from color to B&W made a perfect mood. It is very tender and touching.
